UWB Data Repository

The data repository of the University of West Bohemia in Pilsen (https://data-dspace.zcu.cz/) is used for the long-term storage, access, and protection of research data generated at UWB. The repository supports the principles of Open Science and is designed to meet the requirements for a trusted repository.

FAIR principles

The UWB Data Repository is operated in accordance with the FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), which ensure the long-term usability of research data.

  • Findable 
    Datasets are provided with a permanent Handle identifier and corresponding metadata according to the Dublin Core standard.
  • Accessible 
    Data is made available through the repository under clearly defined conditions, including any access restrictions.
  • Interoperable 
    Metadata is structured according to standards and allows for further machine processing.
  • Reusable 
    Datasets are provided with a license and description allowing for their further use.

Trustworthiness of the repository

The UWB data repository meets the basic characteristics of a trusted repository:

  • institutional guarantee of the University of West Bohemia,
  • professional administration by the University Library,
  • quality control of metadata prior to publication,
  • long-term archiving and data backup,
  • access modes including open access,
  • description using standardized metadata,
  • assignment of persistent identifiers,
  • licensing measures including Creative Commons public licenses,
  • annual risk assessment by the Cyber Security Committee.
